Safeguarding Policy
Keeping everyone safe is at the heart of everything we do.
Our commitment to safeguarding
As an organisation, we want to restore dignity and revive hope to people from all walks of life. We are concerned with people and their circumstances and actively encourage an inclusive environment. We seek to ensure that everyone involved with the organisation is aware of what is required from them under the Safeguarding Policy and make sure that it is practised at all times.
It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect of adults at risk and vulnerable children. We commit ourselves to co-operate fully with the appropriate statutory services when they are conducting official investigations into physical, emotional or sexual abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults, children or young people.
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, work placement participants, contractors, sessional workers, board members and anyone involved in Beanstalk Skills Academy CIC.

- Everyone supervising adults at risk or vulnerable children is suitably trained.
- DBS checks are carried out for all staff, volunteers and contractors where required.
Recruitment and vetting
All people involved with the organisation must complete an application form, provide two non-family references where appropriate, and attend an informal discussion or interview. Everyone involved must disclose criminal convictions excluding those spent. Beanstalk Skills Academy CIC reserves the right to take appropriate action based on safeguarding risk assessment.
How to raise a concern
Everyone involved in the organisation is encouraged to act when suspicious that abuse is occurring. Beanstalk Skills Academy CIC will respect and support anyone who raises safeguarding concerns. Reports are protected under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998.
The person who first becomes aware of a concern is not responsible for deciding whether or not abuse has occurred. That is the role of safeguarding professionals following referral.
